Case Study: Nathan
Nathan Horsman, an Erasmus Pro participant, went on a 3 month work placement to Seville, Spain, in Summer 2021. His placement was at the Oasis Hostel in the city centre.

I applied for this placement because I was in-between work in the UK and my friend recommended the program to me. The opportunity seemed like something I couldn’t pass up on as well. To work abroad sounds like a great change for me to experience something new.
I worked at Oasis Hostel in Seville and my tasks consisted of general reception duties such as checking in any international guests, giving tourist information and helping guests with check ins & check outs. Also, occasionally I would help with the upstairs kitchen / terrace area, serving drinks and breakfast.
My biggest learning experience was having to be independent whilst here in Seville, cleaning, cooking and getting myself to work on time, being punctual and being a proper member of the Oasis Hostel team for such a long period.
I think this international placement will help me professionally in the future. Having this on my CV, showcasing I have successfully completed a work placement abroad is a bonus for me compared to others who haven’t stepped out their comfort zone.
I like everything about Seville, there’s nothing to not like. The weather (might actually be too hot), the people are inviting, the food, the culture and of course we’ve been lucky enough to be here when the Euro’s has been on which for a country like Spain and England is amazing.
Next for me will be trying to find a new job, possibly now in the hospitality industry after my experience here in Seville. My advice would be to come open minded and definitely experience this if you have the opportunity.
